Men’s Skirts

Men’s skirts?!? Who would have thunk it. Though not popular in most western cultures, in some places skirts are popular amongst men as well.

Traditionally the wearing of skirts is a fashion in North America and some parts of Europe, it is considered as a symbolism of female role. But there are regions where skirts are worn by men as well and is an important part of their dressing. Various attempts are being made to make men’s skirts popular among the male community but not great success has been achieved. Except for the few regions where men traditionally wear skirts.

The men’s skirt was not much of popular in the late nineties although some of the celebrities were seen wearing men’s skirt in 1980s. Various fashion designers tried to bring men’s skirt into regular fashion but didn’t have that much of response which was expected. There are few western cultures where menís skirt is a popular dress among the male community. Mainly the men’s skirt is worn in the western dance culture and is quite popular as well. The men’s skirt was considered an important part of professional dance production. Menís skirts were used to impose an artistic look to the choreography of the dance. Ever since the skirts were introduced, the ideas of men’s skirt remained decisively associated with idea of effeminacy and hence still havenít got the desired place in mainstream fashion line.
